NYSERDA's Clean Power Estimator
for Solar-Electric or Photovoltaic (PV) Systems
The Clean Power Estimator, developed by Clean Power
Research, is an economic evaluation tool that provides an estimate of the
benefits and costs associated with a solar-electric or photovoltaic (PV)
system. NYSERDA is working with Clean Power Research and SUNY Albany to
enhance the capabilities of the Clean Power Estimator, providing a customized
version for NYSERDA?s Power Naturallysm Program through a contract
with PACE. All the elements of this new version have not been completed,
but the model now includes NYSERDA incentives for eligible PV systems.
New Feature: the Clean Power Estimator can now be
saved to be run off-line! Once the program runs, press the "Save This
Program" button at the bottom left corner of the screen and follow the
instructions.
Please remember, as the name implies, the Clean Power
Estimator provides estimates of system benefits and costs. It is
important to work with an experienced PV installer to obtain more specific
information about a PV system installed at your individual site for a specific
application.
Future Enhancements
Please check back in May for the following enhancements to
the Clean Power Estimator:
-
Preliminary analysis of small wind turbine applications utilizing data from
TrueWind Solution?s New York Wind Map
How To Run Program
Enter your zip code, select your customer type, and press
Run Program. Enter other information, as available, to get an estimate of
the economics of PV system.
The Clean Power Estimator takes your selections and
combines them with pre-collected data (electric rate schedules, federal and
state income tax rates, any federal or utility economic incentives, current
NYSERDA incentives, local weather data, electric load profiles, and performance
characteristics of a typical PV system), resulting in an analysis of estimated
costs, benefits and system production expectations for a PV system
Legal Information
The program includes potential economic incentives and tax
benefits associated with purchasing a PV system. You should confirm the
availability of the economic incentives for your specific application with
NYSERDA (info@nyserda.org) or your installer and consult your tax advisor about
the tax deductibility of any interest payments before you purchase a system.
Please read the warranties and limitation of
liability.
